Tucci Wears Ski Helmet Following Richardson’s Death
STANLEY TUCCI always makes sure he wears a helmet when he goes skiing – after his best friend NATASHA RICHARDSON died in an accident on the slopes last year (09).
Richardson passed away last March (09) after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a fall during an alpine holiday in Canada.
Tucci was devastated by the tragedy, and was grieving again just two months later (May09) when his wife passed away after a battle with cancer.
Now Tucci, who is a keen skier, makes sure his children wear helmets when they go on winter sports holidays to protect them if they have an accident.
Tucci says, “My wife was a great skier. We used to go skiing every year and I took the kids again just after Christmas. I feel it’s important to do the same things we always did, as painful as it is.”
Asked if Richardson’s death prompted him to wear a ski helmet on the slopes, he says, “It did. I knew Tash. She was one of my best friends. The last time my wife got out of bed was to go to Tash’s funeral… The kids always wear helmets.”
