Ski helmet saves Gardiner boy from serious injury
I’m an 11-year-old boy from Gardiner. I am writing about the ski helmet discussion in the newspaper.
Last week, while I was skiing at Black Mountain in Rumford, I went off a small jump while looking for my friend. My ski stuck into the snow, it popped off, and I fell forward and hit my head.
I was knocked out and had a mild concussion. I was skiing on a green circle novice trail! I am actually a pretty good skier!
The ski patrol person told me I was lucky I was wearing my helmet or my injury would have been worse. I think people should wear ski helmets.
