Snowboarder Dies at Elk Mountain
A man who worked at Elk Mountain died Saturday after crashing into a tree while snowboarding at the resort Union Dale.
Lackawanna County deputy coroner Tim Rowland said David Holgate, 19, of Dalton died from a severe head injury. He said he was not wearing a helmet.
Holgate was found against a tree just after the mountain opened Saturday morning. He was taken to Community Medical Center in Scranton where he later died.
