Grand Geneva Resort First in Area to Offer Kids Helmets for Skiing, Snowboarding

LAKE GENEVA, Wis., /PRNewswire/ — The purchase of 400 new helmets for children hitting the ski and snowboarding slopes has made The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva Resort a pioneer in safety this winter season. With safety concerns playing an ever-increasing role in sports, Grand Geneva is the first in the area to offer protective headgear as part of its standard rental equipment.

As Grand Geneva’s ski season officially begins today, officials here hope to be trendsetters for the state of Wisconsin when it comes to sending a message about safety. Although state law does not require skiers and snowboarders to wear helmets, Mountain Top Ski Director Hans Hauschild confirms that more children are donning helmets at the Lake Geneva ski resort than ever before.

“Parents are finally understanding the importance of ski safety and manufacturers have made strong efforts in making children’s helmets fashionable and therefore, more acceptable to their peers,” said Hauschild. “We’re extremely proud to be one of the few Midwest destinations to offer helmets as a choice for our guests. People are wearing helmets to ride bikes, roller blade, ride horses and skateboard, so it makes sense to wear them while skiing and snowboarding.”

Grand Geneva will include helmets are part of their equipment rental for $10.

The Mountain Top at Grand Geneva offers 18 challenging ski slopes, a vertical drop of 211 feet, elevations up to 1,086 feet and runs up to one- quarter mile long. Weather is never an object as the resort’s snowmaking crew can convert 1,200 gallons of water per minute into some of the finest snow for skiing in the Midwest.
