Citrus Heights Teen Suffers Serious Ski Accident
A Citrus Heights teen was in critical condition Friday night after a skiing accident in the Sierra.
Vladimir Linnik, 16, crashed into a light poll at Squaw Valley Ski Resort.
Witnesses said that Linnick was skiing on a run, but lost control and skied off the run through a rope boundary line, and then crashed into the light pole.
Linnick was not wearing a helmet. He suffered severe head injuries.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Department has responded to several accidents in recent weeks, and has advice for other skiers.
“Watch out for natural and manmade obstacles, if you can, wear a helmet and of course ski within your abilities and ski under control at all times,” sheriff’s department spokesman Bill Langton said.
Linnick remains in critical condition at the Washoe Medical Center.
