Gov. Brown vetoes ski helmet bill in CA
Sacramento — Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday smacked down what he called overbearing and expensive proposals for state regulations by vetoing bills that would require that kids wear helmets when on ski slopes and increase fines for people who talk on cell phones or text while driving. The move came as lawmakers this week consider hundreds of bills before a Friday deadline. I must admit that I did not expect New Jersey to become the leader in Ski Area safety, but as of last month, New Jersey is taking charge and will become the first state to require ski helmets for any riders or skiers under the age of 18. Ski resort giving out free helmets for kids
The Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort is giving away free ski helmets to youth visitors throughout January to spread awareness about ski and snowboard safety. The Resort, in partnership with MountainView Hospital and Fremont Emergency Services, is sponsoring Lids on Kids, a national program that provides free ski safety education and helmets to children.
